Artemi Panarin scored twice in the first period, and Brandt Clarke supplied the overtime winner. Darcy Kuemper finished with 41 saves to help Los Angeles claim its second consecutive victory. The Kings had lost their first 6 games before winning their next 2.
Panarin beat Semyon Varlamov twice to put Los Angeles ahead 2-0. The Islanders recovered through goals from Victor Eklund and Matthew Schaefer. Eklund scored on a second-period power play, and Schaefer tied the game at 7:06 of the third.
Varlamov denied Adrian Kempe on a penalty shot to help keep New York within reach. The Islanders completed their comeback to earn overtime, but Clarke ended the contest during 3-on-3 play.
Los Angeles converted its early scoring and Kuemper's work into another road victory. Panarin's two-goal performance accounted for all of the Kings' scoring in regulation.
