The Flames improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in Conference USA and extended their winning streak to five games. Sam Houston fell to 1-4 and 0-1 in the league.

Western Kentucky beat Missouri State 34-13 on Thursday night at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Brock Glenn passed for 231 yards and ran for 95 yards with a touchdown pass and a rushing score. Ajay Allen rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. The Hilltoppers improved to 2-4 and 1-1 in Conference USA. Missouri State dropped to 1-4 and 0-1 in the conference.

UTSA beat South Florida 31-24 on Thursday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio. A'Marion Peterson ran for 92 yards and three touchdowns, including a 1-yard score with 15 seconds left. Owen McCown passed for 209 yards for the Roadrunners, who improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in the American Athletic Conference. South Florida led 17-10 at halftime but finished 4-2 and 1-2 in the league.

South Alabama beat Arkansas State 56-49 on Thursday night at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in the highest-scoring FBS game this season by combined points. Keenan Phillips ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns and added a 100-yard kickoff return. Arkansas State quarterback Trey Owens passed for 418 yards and four touchdowns but was intercepted twice. The Jaguars improved to 4-2 and 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference.
