The Toronto Maple Leafs scored six times at Ball Arena and beat the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 on Saturday. William Nylander had two goals and three assists for a career-high-tying five points. Auston Matthews added two goals and two assists. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice for Colorado, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves for his first win of the season.

Brandon Hagel completed a hat trick with two late goals in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 5-3 win at the New York Islanders on Saturday. Hagel broke a 3-3 tie with 1:44 left and added an empty-netter 21 seconds later. Jake Guentzel scored twice, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves as Tampa Bay won its fourth straight game.

Kirill Kaprizov recorded three goals and an assist in the Minnesota Wild's 4-1 victory at the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Matt Boldy scored 53 seconds in and later set up Kaprizov for a 3-1 lead. Jesper Wallstedt made 29 saves. Matthew Tkachuk scored for Florida in its home opener.

Connor McDavid kept his season-opening point streak at five games with an assist in the Edmonton Oilers' 3-1 win at the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Vasily Podkolzin scored, Mattias Ekholm and Alex Formenton also scored, and Tristan Jarry made 19 saves. Macklin Celebrini scored in his return from injury for San Jose.

Fraser Minten had a goal and two assists in the Boston Bruins' 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at TD Garden. Pavel Zacha, Mason Lohrei, Marat Khusnutdinov, and Casey Mittelstadt scored, and Jeremy Swayman made 14 saves. Porter Martone had a power-play goal for the winless Flyers.
