The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Miami Heat 131-106 in their NBA regular-season opener. Anthony Edwards scored 45 points and made 9 3-pointers, while LaMelo Ball contributed 21 points in his Minnesota debut. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 35 in his first game for Miami.
The Atlanta Hawks opened their regular season by beating the Orlando Magic 132-125. Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 31 points and hit a late 3-pointer that put Atlanta ahead 128-123 with 51 seconds remaining. Paolo Banchero finished with 35 points and 10 assists for Orlando.
