On Saturday at the China Open in Beijing, wild card Qinwen Zheng defeated No. 13 seed Elise Mertens 7-5, 6-2 in 1 hour and 32 minutes to become the first Chinese player to reach the Beijing final. Zheng weathered a late surge from Mertens in the opening set, then won eight of the last 10 games while striking 32 winners against 16 unforced errors.

Earlier on Capital Group Diamond Court, No. 4 seed Mirra Andreeva beat No. 26 seed Nikola Bartunkova 6-2, 6-2 in 1 hour and 14 minutes. Andreeva hit 16 winners with 10 unforced errors, converted five of 10 break points, and picked up her 50th tour-level win of 2026 on the way to a career-high World No. 3 ranking next week.

The Sunday final sends Andreeva against Zheng in a rematch of Zheng's comeback win in the 2024 Beijing quarterfinals. Zheng arrives as a wild card ranked No. 54, the lowest-ranked China Open finalist since 2004.

At the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Saturday, No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3, 6-3 in 66 minutes on Stadium Court. Alcaraz struck eight aces, won 86 percent of first-serve points, and did not lose serve while extending a seven-match streak after his title in Tokyo.

No. 4 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime rallied past Camilo Ugo Carabelli 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-5 in just under 3 hours on Stadium Court. The Canadian saved a set point in the second-set tiebreak before closing the third set 7-5.

No. 5 Daniil Medvedev rebounded from a set down to beat Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Grandstand 2. Defending champion Valentin Vacherot opened his title defense with a 6-4, 7-6(5) win over Sebastian Baez.

Sunday in Beijing, the singles final between Zheng and Andreeva is scheduled not before 7:30 p.m. local on Capital Group Diamond Court after the doubles championship.

Sunday in Shanghai, Stadium Court singles start at 12 p.m. local with No. 3 Ben Shelton against Arthur Gea and Hubert Hurkacz against wild card Yi Zhou. Not before 6 p.m., No. 1 Alexander Zverev faces Quentin Halys and No. 25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina meets No. 7 Frances Tiafoe.
