New Jersey defeated Anaheim 4-1 in Thursday’s NHL action, earning its fourth victory in five games. Arseny Gritsyuk, Nico Hischier, Anthony Mantha and Jack Hughes scored for the Devils.
Football: Bears hold off Patriots 30-24
Chicago beat New England 30-24 to improve to 5-2 in the NFL. Rome Odunze recovered the Patriots’ late onside kick, securing the Bears’ fourth victory in five games.
Basketball: Thunder defeat Nuggets 96-84
Oklahoma City defeated Denver 96-84 in its NBA home opener. Jalen Williams scored 21 points, while Chet Holmgren added 12 points and 17 rebounds. The Thunder improved to 2-0.
Tennis: Medvedev reaches Almaty quarterfinals
Daniil Medvedev defeated Sho Shimabukuro 6-2, 6-1 to reach the Almaty Open quarterfinals. The top seed needed 52 minutes to complete his second-round victory.
Tennis: Shnaider defeats Eala in Ningbo
Diana Shnaider beat Alexandra Eala 7-5, 6-4 to reach the Ningbo Open quarterfinals. The No. 6 seed converted her seventh match point after 1 hour and 55 minutes.
